DR of Congo: The Ministry of Foreign Trade has reinforced temporary bans on imports of some high consumption products to protect domestic industries

Iron bars, grey cement and clinkers: the previous bans on imports from border countries and entering the territory in the Western part of Democratic Republic of Congo, for a 6-month period as of August 25th 2017 respectively by Ministerial Orders n°010 and n°011/CAB/MINETAT-COMEXT/2017, is renewed for 6 months starting February 27th 2018 by Ministerial Order n°030/CAB/MINETAT.COMEXT/2018 and is extended to any country of supply of such products.

 

Beers and aerated beverages:  the previous ban on imports from border countries, wherever the entry point in the territory of the Democratic Republic of Congo, for a 6-month period as of August 25th 2017 by Ministerial Order n°009/CAB/MINETAT-COMEXT/2017, is renewed for 6 months starting February 27th 2018 by Ministerial Order n°031/CAB/MINETAT.COMEXT/2018 and is extended to any country of supply of such products.

 

Brown sugar:  imports from any country of supply and entering the territory in the western part of the Democratic republic of Congo are banned for a 6-month period as of February 27th  2018 by Ministerial Order n°032/CAB/MINETAT-COMEXT/2018. 

 

Wheat flour and white sugar:  imports from any country of supply and entering the territory in the western part of the Democratic republic of Congo are banned for a 6-month period as of April 30th  2018 respectively by Ministerial Order n°038 and 039/CAB/MINETAT-COMEXT/2018.

 

Products placed under bans entering the territory of Democratic Republic of Congo without prior authorisation will be destroyed or re-exported at infringer's costs.
